Close finishes and strong debut rides.

The first sporting '10' of the season saw a close finish and two excellent debut rides.

The first event of 2012 started as the final one of last season finished: with some strong debut rides. Despite a chilly easterly breeze conditions were good for the first event of the year. The strong debut rides were provided by Dave Wood, recording a 35.19, and Nev Pyper, with a 30.33. Nev's 30.33 was one of the three fastest rides which were all within 14 seconds of each other.

The fastest time of the evening was provided by Barry Cole posting 30.19 which only just pipped Chris Williams's 30.21. Nev's time just slotting him in third place behind these two strong riders. Hopefully the sign of some intriguing battles to be fought over the summer.

The fastest women of the evening was Christine, posting an excellent 34.16. This shows metronomic consistency with her brisk 34 minute rides from last season. Both Hamish Robertshaw and Ben Muirhead put in some excellent performances with no aero equipment. Hamish recording 31.30 and Ben a 32.55.

The next event is on the 31st of May. Everyone is welcome for a social evening of bike racing.
